There are two sources for drinking water-ground sources (such as wells) and
surface sources (rivers, lakes and streams). While about 80% of the national
drinking water supply comes from ground water sources, most people (66%) are
served by surface water systems. This is because metropolitan areas rely on
surface water while smaller areas get their supply from ground sources.
10-20% of the population have their own private wells. To find out the source
of your drinking water, call your water supplier or look through your annual
water quality report. |
